HEART OPENING SALVE — Rose, Lavender & Nettle
A potent, wildcrafted balm made with wild rose, lavender, and nettle infused into organic cold-pressed sunflower oil. To anoint the heart with this salve is to awaken it — to its purpose, its power, and its capacity for fierce and tender love.
The heart is fire. It is passion and warmth, rage and compassion, the spark of life and the engine of transformation. This balm works to tend that fire. To help you transform from a place of deep self-love, held within the fierce and boundaried protection of your own sovereign flame.
Rose carries the magic of love and transformation — for transformation is always, in some way, a death of the old and a flowering of the new. Lavender brings love, protection, and the opening of psychic and emotional pathways. Nettle is a plant of fire and fierce boundaries, of deep nourishment and purification — she builds strength from the ground up and protects everything she touches.
Together they offer a path back to the truth that we can be soft and open and loving while still being fierce protectors of our own tender hearts.
For meditation and journeying: apply a pea-sized amount over the heart space, pulse points, and third eye. Breathe deeply and allow the herbs to open the energetic heart.
As medicine: apply over the heart area on the front and back of the body. Deepens the breath, stimulates movement in the heart space, and supports the body through colds, fevers, and the healing of broken hearts.

This blend was made for those finding their way back to that place. For those who have felt the pull of inherited patterns and external expectation, and who are ready to follow a truer thread.
Anchored by Sweet Violet, whose quiet presence opens the heart to truth with softness and courage, this blend draws on the layered strength of five Wild Folk Apothecary essences.

A beautifully fragrant and cleansing combination of wild foraged and home-grown herbs including (with seasonal variations) spruce, lavender, yarrow, agrimony, water mint, meadowsweet, rose, bay, peppermint, lemon balm, mugwort, and many more. Each stick is unique and contains seasonal herbs and flowers.
These sticks are bound with organic jute twine, a natural string made from plants fibres and are at least 10 inches long, they can be used for multiple burns as the whole stick will not need to be used each time.
Flint is a sacred stone, it helps us to connect to our ancestors and the sacred lands beneath our feet. The herbs are all chosen seasonally with awareness and purpose to cleanse and open up connection to the sacred Earth.

A note on saining, or smoke cleansing:
The act of making fire sacred through smoke and saining is an ancient, ordinary and yet ritual practice. Fragrant, cleansing, and medicinal smoke has been used by humans for many thousands of years. The use of smoke, smudging , or saining, as part of everyday ritual is a manifestation of both air and fire energy and their ability to cleanse, clear energetic space, and renew. Saining, or the intentional act of purification with smoke, is an important folk practice which helps us to live in alignment with the proper order of things and remove negative influences from the object of purification.
To sain an object, being, or space is to awaken it to purpose, to bless and purify it and to make it sacred.
